Discuss intentional community
Urban Coup is a Melbourne-based cohousing group seeking to establish a new community within 8km radius of the city centre.
With the early work completed, the Coup is now finalising its design brief, and working with architects and courting developers as we develop feasibility studies.
We meet regularly to discuss the design and running of our community and often just to get together to have fun. Currently we have about 17 member households, including a wide range of professionals.
Now is an exciting time to join the Coup, and still have the opportunity to influence the design and the development itself. Please visit our website to find out more and to register your interest.
Urban Coup has a well-developed and formalised system for consensus-based decision making.
We have recently developed a quick decision making process. This will be increasingly important as we begin to work with a developer.
Aside from the joining fee, most member households in the Urban Coup expect to buy a dwelling privately as part of a strata title. This is the usual way for any apartment bought off the plan.
A limited number of units are planned to be set aside as social housing for members of a housing cooperative.
